WITH UTMOST INTEGRITY

While I was rushing off to work one morning. I saw a billboard and the words "with utmost integrity" stood out from other words on it. Prior to the picture and all others written on it, I could smell a touch of sarcasm and irony.I penned down my thoughts in this little piece. Enjoy

=======================
I wish I can listen to their lies
Believe those putrid lines
Gaze at their face
Believing that everything is okay
Smile at the victory
That has been won today
Hoping they will keep up the pace
That should be set in place
With those words of gullible eyes
Staring at my face saying, “this is no fun, run!!!”
I wish I can fathom why a man
Who started with nothing
Gets into a place of something
And Boom! His brain is knocked out
Filled with greedy matter
The people he loved becomes a bore
The problem he claims to be solved
Becomes a chore
His heart is caged with ribbed stones
He doesn’t fulfil his promise
Whereas he claimed to serve with utmost integrity.
I weep.

So tell me,
What kind of man
Abandons his fellow kinsman to rot
Lavishing in a pool of spoil
That belongs to him not
This story has been told many times
Heard in all the rhymes
Seen like the sand and sun
The people are weary of a bastard son
They cry for a saviour one
Someone who will serve with utmost integrity.

And over the years the sons has adapted to been prodigal despite the trust of the kinsmen on them.
Are we wrong to trust them again?
How do our children forget morals so soon?
What has crept into the fabrics of our morals and society.
This is a symposium discussion!

Sardonic as it is, this is a reality.
We fail to realize that a beautiful life is not all about money or even wriggling power around but about showing love and care.

CHOPPED WOOD

They chopped it down Then thought it was over The tree is gone No place to call a home Take the wood into the fire Let it burn to ashes We will never hear of it again In this I wept Who will save the soul The soul left to rot on the wood The chopped wood In a trance, Like a flash I saw the curtain tear in half A mighty wind was here But how will everything become one piece? Suddenly, From the ashes,  The roots stretched From the earth, it rose The great tree of steel never to die anymore 3 days was all it took They never expected this Once a rejected wood now the choicest furniture My Jesus hung on the tree Has risen to set me free Freeborn, new born.  So I celebrate this grace, hallelujah. OBLIVION

She was out later than usual. She just had a lot of work to cover so she could earn more and rest too. She never stayed out this late. As a single mum, in a new town, she made sure she was always available for her eleven year old Misheal.   It started as a light shower, then a heavy downpour. Disappointed looking at her titanium plated wristwatch which was already washing off, she checked the time at the same time recalling when she first got the watch.   It was a lovely Sunday afternoon. Elvis hurried to meet up with her from his recess. He bought her lunch, a plate of chicken and fries with a cup of cappuchino her favourite.   She was overjoyed when she saw the simple gift. Even though it was not worth much, but coming from Elvis even in the midst of the financial crisis he faced, it was everything.  " You didn't have to do this Elvis." She said half smiling, mouth agape, fingers covering her mouth hiding her expression.  "I'd do anything for you Ma ...

THE WAR

THE WAR ...And that was how the war started. Gun shots everywhere, commotion, fire, people screaming. I woke up in shock wondering if it was a dream. My mum was heavy with my brother. Dad was trying soo hard to get the family together.    Mother snatched me from the bed, strapped me on her back. Dad held her hand and we made for the exit.    Mum was very heavy, fat, swollen and big bellied. I fear for how she will make it.   Admist screams and panic, my dad ran with mum and I into the wild for safety.   At that point, I recalled my favourite song and started singing. Dad placed a palm on my mouth with a stern face which meant I should keep shut. I smiled wondering why I could not sing in the midst of the fire works.   Mum shrieked in pain. "What is it Honey?" My dad asked "I think I'm losing him" my mum replied. "O God not now" my dad whispered in frustration. "What do you need? What can I do t...
