GENIUS

To the one genuis, yes you
I know you.
You think you can hide in that facade of perfect illusion
But I broke through it.
I still know you
Completely
You care about your looks, sometimes you know you don't look so good
But you say you have no dress sense and you are clad with humour,
Everyone laughs it off
But it's just a ploy to divert everyone's attention from your fear of bad looks

You say you know me,
Yes you claim to know everyone
They believe in you
They trust you
Instead you create a group of blind followers
What you claim to be
Is like sands on the sea
Infinite and impossible

You are a good performer
On stage you tremble
You are stricken with tension
But you say you are always ready then coat it with I don't even know if I'm ready and seal it with an encouragement to a fellow performer.

No one notices your flaws
You perfectly conceal them
But I know
You are scared that I do
So you want to paint me as someone controversial
Paint as you may
You are nothing of what you claim to be
An empty vessel making sounds like rainfall so no one checks it's content believing it has water

You are insecure and afraid
Trying to live up to a standard you can't attain
You are fake, you are cold
You need to recount your steps before you grow old
Or live this world with unfulfillment untold

You are wearing a facade, a camouflage, an illusion
Living in a world which is not yours
If only you can wake up to see who you really are
Stand up to the flaws and low self esteem
Beam in the light of your reality
An authentic man in Christ is no counterfeit
Live as YOU, live as HIM
Live in whom you were created to being
The people won't last, neither will their praises
When you are all by yourself
Tell me,
WHO ARE YOU?

OBLIVION

She was out later than usual. She just had a lot of work to cover so she could earn more and rest too. She never stayed out this late. As a single mum, in a new town, she made sure she was always available for her eleven year old Misheal.   It started as a light shower, then a heavy downpour. Disappointed looking at her titanium plated wristwatch which was already washing off, she checked the time at the same time recalling when she first got the watch.   It was a lovely Sunday afternoon. Elvis hurried to meet up with her from his recess. He bought her lunch, a plate of chicken and fries with a cup of cappuchino her favourite.   She was overjoyed when she saw the simple gift. Even though it was not worth much, but coming from Elvis even in the midst of the financial crisis he faced, it was everything.  " You didn't have to do this Elvis." She said half smiling, mouth agape, fingers covering her mouth hiding her expression.  "I'd do anything for you Ma ...

THE WAR

THE WAR ...And that was how the war started. Gun shots everywhere, commotion, fire, people screaming. I woke up in shock wondering if it was a dream. My mum was heavy with my brother. Dad was trying soo hard to get the family together.    Mother snatched me from the bed, strapped me on her back. Dad held her hand and we made for the exit.    Mum was very heavy, fat, swollen and big bellied. I fear for how she will make it.   Admist screams and panic, my dad ran with mum and I into the wild for safety.   At that point, I recalled my favourite song and started singing. Dad placed a palm on my mouth with a stern face which meant I should keep shut. I smiled wondering why I could not sing in the midst of the fire works.   Mum shrieked in pain. "What is it Honey?" My dad asked "I think I'm losing him" my mum replied. "O God not now" my dad whispered in frustration. "What do you need? What can I do t...
