OBLIVION

She was out later than usual. She just had a lot of work to cover so she could earn more and rest too. She never stayed out this late. As a single mum, in a new town, she made sure she was always available for her eleven year old Misheal.   It started as a light shower, then a heavy downpour. THE WAR

            THE WAR ...And that was how the war started. Gun shots everywhere, commotion, fire, people screaming. I woke up in shock wondering if it was a dream. My mum was heavy with my brother. Dad was trying soo hard to get the family together.    Mother snatched me from the bed, strapped me on her back. Dad held her hand and we made for the exit.    Mum was very heavy, fat, swollen and big bellied. I fear for how she will make it.   Admist screams and panic, my dad ran with mum and I into the wild for safety.   At that point, I recalled my favourite song and started singing.
